The setup, before any maths happens
A missing diagram, an unlabelled direction, the wrong equation. Most Level 2 marks are lost before your teen writes a number, and revision does not fix a habit.

Online NCEA Level 2 Physics Tutoring · Year 12 · New Zealand Wide
Aaron, founder of Ace NCEA, is your NCEA Level 2 physics tutor, teaching all three papers one on one online. Level 2 physics is Year 12 physics, and three big papers are sat in the November exams within days of each other.
What goes wrong
Level 2 is the year physics becomes a problem solving subject rather than a memorising one.
A missing diagram, an unlabelled direction, the wrong equation. Most Level 2 marks are lost before your teen writes a number, and revision does not fix a habit.
Mechanics, waves and electricity are all sat in November within days of each other. There is no room to be weak in one and make it up in another.
Level 2 physics assumes rearranging and trig are effortless. Where they are not, the physics disappears under the arithmetic.
The method
Setup first, then the physics, then real papers under real time limits.
Aaron reads recent work with next year in mind, because Level 2 results decide which Level 3 subjects stay open. You will know within two lessons what is realistic.
Level 2 assumes Level 1 is automatic and spends no time revisiting it. Aaron goes back and fixes that first, because nothing else sticks until he does.
The big papers are sat within days of each other. Aaron runs them under real time limits from Term 1, which is the fastest way to lift an external grade.
Aaron marks with the real schedule open, the same document the examiner uses, so your teen learns exactly what separates Achieved, Merit and Excellence.
Who teaches your teen
Aaron finished NCEA with more than 310 Excellence credits and was Dux and Head Boy in the same year. He teaches a small group of students himself and matches everyone else with a specialist tutor he has handpicked and trained in his method. He speaks to every family and reviews every plan, so your teen gets the same standard whoever teaches them.
Not sure which of the three papers is the problem?A free 20 minute call with Aaron will give you the answer, and there is nothing to prepare.

This is the pattern we see most often. Two students are on the same grade in March, and only one of them gets weekly support.
What we cover
Lessons follow whatever your teen's school is teaching. Here is what Level 2 physics involves and when each part is assessed.
In Year 12 the externals carry most of the credits, and in maths, physics and chemistry they are sat within days of each other. NZQA marks them. One under-prepared topic can drag a whole subject down.
Internals are the practicals, investigations and reports assessed at school through the year. Teachers mark them and NZQA checks a sample. They are where a steady student builds a safety net before November.
Mechanics, waves, and electricity and electromagnetism are sat in the national exams and marked by NZQA. These carry most of the credits in the subject.
Atomic and nuclear physics, the practical investigation and the context report are marked by teachers during the year.
Level 3 takes mechanics, waves and electricity considerably further. A solid Level 2 is what makes Year 13 manageable.
The pathway
Here is every standard your teen is assessed on, and which parts NZQA marks in November rather than the school during the year.
Level 1 physics now sits in its own subject, and it is the direct feeder into Level 2 Physics.
Three big papers sit in the November exams within days of each other and carry most of the credits in the subject.
An approved University Entrance subject and the expected starting point for engineering degrees.
How it works
Every student follows the same four steps, so you always know what is happening and why.
Tell Aaron about your teen. In twenty minutes he will find where the marks are being lost and explain what it will take to fix it.
Aaron teaches a small group of students himself and matches everyone else with a specialist tutor he has chosen for their subject.
After the first lesson you get a written plan showing every gap, how it will be fixed and in what order. Aaron reviews every plan.
Your teen gets a workbook for each week, and you get a short written update on how they are going.
From parents
“Our son was scraping Achieved in Year 12 Physics and had convinced himself he just was not a science person. Aaron worked out in the first couple of sessions that the real problem was algebra from Year 10, went back and fixed that, and suddenly the physics started making sense. He finished the year with Merit in both externals and actually enjoys the subject now. The weekly update was a lovely touch, because for the first time we knew how he was going without having to drag it out of him.”
“I was really struggling with differentiation and my teacher's explanations just were not clicking. Aaron explains things in a way that actually makes sense, and he never made me feel dumb for asking the same thing twice. I went from Not Achieved in my first internal to Excellence in the exam. Honestly the best decision I made this year.”
“Our daughter used to go quiet whenever maths came up. After a term she was putting her hand up in class and asking for harder questions. Her confidence has completely turned around, and the grades came with it.”
“Aaron matched our son with one of his chemistry specialists after a disappointing mid year report. The lessons are structured, there is a workbook every week, and everything is marked the way NZQA marks it, so he finally knew what an Excellence answer looks like. He finished with Excellence in two of his three externals, which we did not think was possible back in March.”
“Patient, reliable and great with teenagers. Our son actually looks forward to his sessions, which says it all. Highly recommend.”

Your questions
The call takes twenty minutes, it is free and there is no obligation. You do not need to prepare anything or have results to hand. Just tell Aaron your teen's year and subject.
